The TOHODO brand was established in 1952 and has a history spanning 73 years. Its founder, Koji Iwakura, was a graduate of the first class of Tokyo University of the Arts. In 1964, he organized and facilitated the establishment of the Japan Jewelry Designers Association. For over 20 years, he served as the chief judge of the Japan Pearl Design Contest. Mr. Iwakura made an indelible contribution to the Japanese jewelry industry, earning him the title of the "Father of Jewelry" and the honor of being regarded as Japan's foremost figure in jewelry design.
TOHODO's flagship store is located in the Imperial Hotel near the Japanese Imperial Palace. The Tokyo Imperial Hotel, often referred to as the state guesthouse, boasts a 130-year history and is one of Japan's most prestigious royal hotels. During his career in the jewelry industry, Mr. Koji Iwakura designed jewelry for Japan's Empress Michiko, Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, and Queen Silvia of Sweden. His creations received recognition and admiration from royalty and high society across the globe.
